How are our model ships shipped
A model ship is often not just a beautiful decorative object, but a valuable collector's item that requires a lot of love and attention to detail. It is therefore important to take the utmost care when shipping to ensure that each model arrives safely and undamaged. But how do we pack and ship these delicate ship models so that they survive the transport route as safely as possible? Safety standards for large sailing model ships
Large model ships, especially those with delicate rigging and delicate masts, require particularly sturdy packaging. For these models, we use a solid wooden crate that protects and secures the model ship from all sides. The model is firmly lashed to prevent it from slipping or wobbling during transport.
We also use polystyrene padding inside the wooden crate. This padding ensures that the model is not damaged even in the event of strong shocks and that even fine details such as sails and masts remain securely in place. This sturdy outer packaging means that the model ship is optimally prepared for its journey and reaches its destination safely and protected.
packaging for smaller model ships
Smaller model ships have slightly different packaging requirements due to their smaller dimensions, but are no less well protected. For these models, we use a complete Styrofoam cover. The model is completely covered in Styrofoam, so it is protected all around. This complete cover minimizes the risk of fine details being bent or damaged by external influences.
In addition to the Styrofoam cover, we use special boxes that securely enclose the model ship and the Styrofoam packaging. This method of wrapping provides robust and secure packaging that is ideal for shipping smaller ship models.
Why there is no 100% guarantee – but our success rate is 99%
No matter how carefully and conscientiously we pack, in rare cases external influences can occur during shipping that challenge even the best safety precautions. Unfortunately, we cannot give a 100% guarantee that every model ship will arrive 100% undamaged. But the good news is: Our experience shows that around 99% of model ships arrive intact. We owe this impressive rate to the high-quality packaging materials, the tailored safety measures and our many years of experience in shipping sensitive goods.
right to claim damages
Despite all precautions and our high success rate, damage can occur in very rare cases. In such a case, you have extensive complaint options at your disposal. We recommend that you check the package thoroughly for external damage upon receipt and unpack the model immediately. If damage occurs, please document it immediately and contact our customer service. Together with DHL, we ensure that the damage is settled promptly and that you receive the appropriate replacement or repair.
